Felony/ Misdemeanor
All criminal offenses that are punishable by death or imprisonment for a term of one year or more are handled by the Felony Division. The Misdemeanor Division handles criminal offenses that have a maximum term of one year in the county jail.
Juvenile
The Juvenile Division is responsible for cases in which the Defendant has not reached the age at which they could be treated as an adult for a criminal offense.
Traffic
Located across the street from the Courthouse, the Florida State Attorney’s office in DeFuniak Springs prosecutes criminal cases originating in Walton County.

Walton County Jail
The Walton County Jail is currently operated by the Walton County Sheriff and is a relatively high-security facility. The Jail houses low-level offenders as well as violent felony offenders who are being held awaiting trial or have been sentenced already to a term of one year or less.
